On Delisting, Dungeoning, and Being Flagged as AI: A Week in the Life

Finally I’m starting to sort out my writing schedule to make everything work with my full-time job and other responsibilities. One more thing I can cross off the list… Which means it’s time to add three more, right?

First one of my books, The Prize, was delisted from all sellers which… Okay, I see why. The story involved themes of sexual assault. While it wasn’t part of the “sexy bits” but rather used to drive the plot, I understand that it’s dodgy territory. Do I think my book should have been delisted? Not really. It was a detail, not the story, and I had a content warning in the blurb. But I can respect the decision.

Then, two of my books got dungeoned on Amazon – which is to say, they’re still up for sale, it’s just that nobody can find them in a search.

Proof of Purpose and The Gift are both general BDSM-themed shorts at around 3k words, and after changing their covers at least 5 times, I have to assume that the issue is that because of their length, the sexual content in the preview went a little too far for Amazon’s tastes… But I guess I won’t find out until my next BDSM short, which should be released in around two weeks. My longer works have more setup at the beginning, so hopefully the intro will be just clean enough. For now, though, I’m just annoyed that I made Proof of Purpose available on Kindle Unlimited (and therefore Amazon-exclusive) only for it to end up unsearchable.

But then, one of my flashes was flagged as being AI-generated. If anyone can figure out what the folks at Literotica might be seeing in Royally Fucked in the Office Bathroom, please let me know. I ran it through an AI detector and got no hints as to what the issue was.

Needless to say it’s been a frustrating week… But in a way, I’m glad for all of it. Now that it’s happened, I don’t have to be anxious about it anymore.

Then again, I think I might have taken the nerves over the urge to bang my head against a wall.

Nobody says writing’s easy, but they never tell you that these are some of the hardest parts either… But hey, it’s all part of the learning curve.

There is some good news, too, however! Right now you can get the first chapter of my new primal serial, Mia’s Studies, for free, and tomorrow the first chapter of my new hypnosis serial, Mia’s Sessions, will be made free as well. So if you’re interested, get them while you can! It might not fix all of this week’s troubles, but it’ll at least bring me a little comfort, and it literally won’t cost you anything.
